About the Role
The Bartender/Barista/Mixologist is responsible for preparing and serving a diverse range of beverages, including classic cocktails, specialty coffee, and other mixed drinks, while ensuring an exceptional guest experience. This role requires expertise in mixology, barista techniques, and general F&B service, as well as strong customer service skills and adherence to operational and safety standards. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for beverage preparation, creativity, and attention to detail while maintaining a high level of professionalism and efficiency.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Beverage Preparation & Service
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including cocktails, wines, spirits, coffee, and other hot drinks, in accordance with standardized recipes and brand guidelines.
- Maintain an in-depth knowledge of all menu items, including ingredients, preparation techniques, and presentation.
- Ensure accuracy in drink preparation by adhering to portion control and standard measurement policies (free pouring is strictly prohibited).
- Engage with guests to recommend drinks based on their preferences and provide detailed descriptions of menu offerings.
- Take food orders and assist the service team with deliveries as needed. • Monitor and control beverage quality and consistency throughout the service period.
Customer Service & Guest Experience
- Provide friendly, efficient, and professional service to guests, ensuring their needs and expectations are met.
- Respond promptly to guest inquiries and complaints, ensuring timely resolution and customer satisfaction.
- Create an inviting and enjoyable atmosphere by maintaining a positive and engaging demeanor with guests.
- Assist in implementing promotional activities, including special drink menus and themed events.
Inventory & Stock Management
- Maintain appropriate stock levels for all bar items and ingredients, ensuring timely requisition and replenishment.
- Conduct daily stock checks and record any variances, breakages, or wastages.
- Properly tag perishable products with manufacture and expiry dates (e.g., open wine bottles must be used within five days).
- Ensure all beverage transfers and requisitions are properly documented and approved.
- Track and minimize beverage waste and spoilage by following proper storage and rotation practices.
Health, Safety, & Compliance
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including HACCP and local food safety laws.
- Maintain a clean and organized bar area, ensuring all tools and equipment are sanitized regularly.
- Conduct daily checks to ensure expired products are identified, logged, and discarded.
- Follow safe alcohol service practices, including responsible serving guidelines and legal compliance.
- Participate in emergency drills, fire safety training, and first-aid training as required.
Operational & Financial Efficiency
- Ensure all drink orders are processed through the Bar Order Ticket (BOT) system. • Maintain accuracy in billing and cash handling, following restaurant financial policies.
- Monitor sales trends and suggest improvements to beverage offerings to maximize revenue.
- Assist with daily bar stock-taking and reporting discrepancies to management.
- Strive to achieve departmental KPIs, including minimizing waste and maintaining inventory accuracy.
Team Collaboration & Development
- Work effectively with colleagues and other departments to ensure smooth service operations.
- Attend team meetings and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Provide mentorship to junior bar staff, helping them develop their technical and customer service skills.
- Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement within the department.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)
Service Excellence & Guest Satisfaction
- Maintain a customer complaint rate of ≤ 0.5% per month.
- Achieve ≥ 95% positive guest feedback on service and beverage quality.
- Respond to guest requests and inquiries within 2 minutes.
Operational Efficiency & Compliance
- Ensure 100% adherence to beverage recipes and portion sizes.
- Maintain bar stock levels with a variance of ≤ 2%.
- Zero critical violations in health and safety inspections (score ≥ 98/100).
- Maintain an inventory accuracy rate of ≥ 98%.
Financial Performance
- Reduce operational waste by 5% quarterly.
- Achieve beverage sales targets as set by the management.
- Maintain accurate daily reports on pilferages, breakages, and transfers.
